The only book used in this teaching course is the Holy Bible, the King James Version of 1611. It is the Version that has been used by English speaking people for 400 years.
It is not a commercial version, and it is excellent for study purposes due to its consistency. In an experiment the word ‘light’ was chosen as an example. In all the well-known verses in the Bible speaking of light, there was consistency. This allows the reader, and the student, to see a chain of understanding throughout Scripture. However, when the modern versions were compared, different words were used – candle, lamp, lampstand and so on – making the line of understanding less well defined.
The King James Version of the Bible was translated with the intention of being read aloud. It has been found that the clear way it has been written makes it easier to memorise.
Finally, the method of study used, the question and answer form, is well suited to the words of the King James Version, where one can compare scripture with scripture and see likenesses to other verses. This is very satisfying method is the one used by the Online Teaching Place.
