When we are talking about the Bible, we must always remember it is a Holy book. It is God speaking to us and so we should come to it with reverence, as well as interest and enquiry. It is a ‘spiritual book’ not a literary document or a story book.
This means that the ‘spiritual’ part of our lives has to be clean and ready for God to speak to. How do we do this? By admitting to God, those things in our lives that we know are not right. And we all do know them! It is good to say sorry to God and turn away from these things, for they are so disrespectful to our Holy God.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. This makes clean channels and pathways for God to be able to speak to us as we study. Above all trust in God, and say thank you for what He gives you – your life!
God has also given us practical everyday help to make our study of the Bible come alive!
It is help for living. If you are not getting proper sleep, you feel tired and muddled. If you have eaten a huge fry-up your system is clogged and heavy. If you have not had any exercise your blood is not moving well. And sludgy circulation does not help your thinking, or your understanding, or your concentration.
Try eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and brown whole foods till you feel full. I recommend a WFPB, whole-food plant-based lifestyle. This is what Adam and Eve had in the Garden of Eden right at the beginning. It is so good for minds and bodies. Would you consider giving it a try? In just days you will feel the difference.
Add to these, making time for God, exercise in the fresh air, times of rest, doing the opposite from what you have been doing, getting deep comfortable sleep, choosing to drink fresh water, enjoying a few moments pleasant sunshine, and remembering to say thank you to the Creator God who designed you and gave you life. Find a good daily rhythm and routine for your activities, use life to the full, and enjoy what you discover.
You are on the way to a new life.
